Another long day.........................

April 10, 2012

There is now 13 horses on the farm!  WOW!  It is a great feelign to be so busy, but at time overwhelming!  Thank you to Shea for keeping me on track and sticking with me!

The day started with Fi.  She was stiff, but ready to move it!

Next up was Hughy, who was amazing.  Feeling so great to have such a wonderful horse in my life.  All he wanted to do was piaffe!  But he did nali his one's on the second try!  Woot, woot!

Jewel was great as well.  She nailed her 4's!!  Worked on spring in her step at the trot.  However, I feel like we are pretty earth bound...............

It was Bryd 's first day of work.  Lunge her with the assitance of Shea as she was ready to drag me down the arena!  It has been awhile since I have worked with such a great horse.  Nest, I did get on and ride her.  She was looking at everything and taking careful steps.  The trot was fun with no steering and no tempo.  Well, we all start somewhere!

Milo was brillant and and naughty all at the same time! ha!  He nailed his single changes. ...

What a long day................

April 5, 2012

It sure was, but lucky me, I had Shea to help me with the horses!  Yeah!

Bettina looked great with her new nikes!

Shea and Gully looked the best that I have seen them.  His connection is really coming along and so is his balance!  The leg yields looked super and then they started to work on shoulder-in and haunches in!  He is becoming a dressage horse!

Milo piaffed on the trail, because he was afraid of the turkeys, wind, and loud noises!  They were out to get them!  so it was the perfect training oppertunity!  Yeah Milo!

Conrad also had new nikes on!  He looked great.  He had a good break from his big bad trainer on the long line today.  It was a good chance to study the way he moves.

Fiona was super today.  I thought that it was one of the bast ides that I have ever had on her.  She was loose and supple and round with no tension!  What a great girl!  She too likes her stilettos!

Jewel was a amazing.  It has been months since I worked on piaffe and passage.  I worked on fine tuning the aids and she was so responsive. ...

Whirlwind day..............

April 3, 2012

What a great day!  So much to do and accomplish.  A big thank you to Shea for keeping me on track with training horses and horses ready for Collin.  Another thank you to Collin for taking such great care of our horses hooves!

The first horse of the day was Hughy!  Warm in the walk with lot of bending exercises!  Played with half passes to help engagement.  Ended with a little piaffe.  What a heart of gold.

Next horse up was Gold!  He must be under the weather, because there has been no spooking, fear of the corner of death, nothing but work!  The old boy maybe growing up?  Doubtful!  He was supple and the contact felt great.  Worked on balance and collection.  Changes were super, canter pirouettes were tight and engaged.  Finished with trot half passes.  What a good boy!

Jewel and I went out into the field today.  It has been so good for the mind and body.  We can canter half pass all day and not run into a corner.  We also worked with quarter pirouettes as well as full.  She is such a good horse.  Always trying for me.

Conrad misses his owner already! ;)  We confirmed that...

Road to Rio - Launch Party!

April 1, 2012

So there is a great group called FOM - Friends of Megan that is organizing a fundraiser called Road to Rio - Launch Party to help start Megan Olympic Quest!

Fantastic news for donors who attend the Launch Party! Donations are 100% tax deductible according to IRS Code Section 501(c)(3). The American Horse Trials Foundation was established in 1987 to assist 3-Day Event Riders and Organizers in raising tax deductible financial support for national and international competition. In 1996 the Bylaws were revised so that the Foundation could assist riders competing in the related disciplanes of dressage and show jumping. Megan has recently established grant eligibility with AHTF. By making a tax deductible contribution to the AHTF, you will be helping Megan and her horses realize their potential!

So there is 28 days until the Launch Party held at the Firefly Coffee House from 6pm-9pm! Please purchase your tickets at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/237032 , offer a silent auction item or make a contribution to the American Horse Trials Foundation, Inc to help support Megan's quest! Happy April Fool's Day!

April 1, 2012

Lucky for me there was no fooling around!  It was all work and no play.  It was Jess's first day to be a working student.  It went very well!  Started with a light lunge for Bettina.

Then Fi was next!  Worked on suppling in the right rein.  She was a bit tight today, but worked through it. Fi was well balanced in the canter!

Gold was awesome!  After a long walk warm up of bending exercises worked on the response to the containing aid!  At first he had not interest in collecting and then after several transitions he through it was ok!  Had great half passes, canter pirouettes, and changes.  We ended with the piaffe and passage.  The transition from piaffe to passage was a little tough, but the expression was great in the passage.  Good boy, Goldie!

Wellie had a light day!  However he was a little fresh at first, but we worked on balance in all gaits as he wanted me to carry his head!  Sorry Buddy!

Jewel was tired today.  Had a super line of fours so we left the arena to cool out in the field.  What great horse!

Jess had a lesson on position - no falling...
